3D Coil Development Through the Combination of
Traditional Technologies and Additive Manufacturing Technologies
In high-frequency induction heating, it can be said that the accuracy of heating coils is the most important technology.
Traditionally, coils have been manufactured by skilled craftsman. FUJI-DENSHI has aimed to achieve higher-quality, lower-cost, and shorter-lead-time manufacturing through the use of state-of-the-art 3D printing technology.
When coils are manufactured using 3D printers, brazed joints that are a factor in reducing the number of shots can be minimized, which in turn has the advantage of extending coil life!
On the other hand, since the copper powder used as the material is costly, this results in higher manufacturing costs compared to conventional coils.
To address this disadvantage, FUJI-DENSHI installed a dedicated large-scale 3D printer in-house and devised a method that does not rely entirely on additive manufacturing, but instead combines casting techniques in some cases and adjusts the amount of copper powder used depending on the required strength.
Prototype Coils
While utilizing conventional machining techniques, we manufacture parts with uniform geometries using casting.
Additive manufacturing is selectively applied to parts with low electrical loading. By leveraging the advantages of the different manufacturing techniques, we aim to achieve optimized coils!
